Excellent! Well-written melody, even more impressive lyrics! The only problem I see is that this is more of a solo piece (about love) than a love ballad (to be sung to another person), and I can't justify why other than to vaguely point out that it's in a high pitch, displays little tonal variation overall, is melodically repetitive, etc. None of those means it's bad -- they're just things that, for whatever unjustifiable reason, in my mind make it seem like you wouldn't normally expect to hear Person A singing this to woo Person B, but rather you'd expect to hear it in a film (being sung by NO ONE on camera) as one guy in love with somebody else is, say, driving his car down the interstate or something.
But to repeat: I am really impressed with this piece. Great job! Keep it up! :D
Thanks! I kind of get your sense that it's a solo song...I tried to infuse it with a sort of bittersweet uncertainty. The singer is singing to his love, but it's not clear whether or not his love will return the affections. I imagine two lovers sitting under an apple tree; one gets up to go to work --or perhaps to move away-- and the other lover is trying to get him or her to stay.
